On May 21, the NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star Race ran at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Among the 21 racers in this exhibition race was Roush Fenway Racing team member Carl Edwards. Edwards, who has driven in this contest five times before, had yet to win. Would this year be different?
The shortest answer is, yes. Edwards won three of the four race segments, including holding the lead for the last ten of the race’s 100 laps. When the checkered flag was waved, Edwards crossed the finish line first, just 0.443 seconds in front of Kyle Busch. This marks Edwards’ first win but it was the fourth All-Star victory for Roush Fenway Racing.
Edwards will drive the World Financial Group (WFG) No. 60 Ford Fusion in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Nov. 12 at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Ariz.
