Donating to a charitable cause such as The WFG Foundation
and the WFG Charitable Trust is a good thing – as Martha Stewart likes to say.
The monies raised by these two organizations are used to match funds from other
charities for programs and projects in areas where WFG associates live and
work. And besides the obvious — that donating to charity makes people feel good
about themselves and is a selfless act of kindness — sometimes you can get even
more out of donating.
Nowhere was this more evident then at the World Financial
Group Convention of Champions 2011, where an associate could donate a minimum
of $20 for his or her name to be placed in a drawing for a rockin’, specially
designed electric guitar. There were two guitars up for grabs – and WFG associate
Howard Asper was one of the lucky recipients of this amazing guitar. (See the
photo he and Carol Asper, his wife and also a WFG associate, shared below.)
According to Carol, she has been with World Financial Group
for two years after retiring from a 28-year job in the aircraft industry. She
joined WFG because she wanted to give back to the community. “I saw that WFG
would give me the opportunity to develop my own knowledge, and put it to good
use to educate others and help families take positive steps toward financial
independence.” Howard, who had been in the restaurant business for 28 years,
retired to start his dream business, and he also joined Carol in her WFG
business in January, “supporting his favorite partner”. They both believe that
The WFG Foundation is just one other way that our company – and thereby its
associates – can step up and get involved to help in communities.
So now that they are the lucky recipients of a beautiful WFG
guitar? Carol says that lessons are starting right away and they will enjoy
entertaining the grandkids.
