It’s been 10 weeks since Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones gave birth to her daughter, Isabella, and recovered from knee surgery, but Team Jennifer Jones is proving they haven’t skipped a beat. On January 26, Jones qualified for the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship with a provincial 9-3 win over Barb Spencer. This will be the team’s sixth time representing Manitoba since 2002.
After missing the fall season, part of the winter season, and only competing in the World Financial Group Continental Cup tournament two weeks ago, Jennifer Jones remained focused throughout this event. “I feel like we really had to work hard to get this one done,” said Jones. “I thought it was our best event from start to finish and to do that after not playing with each other in the fall and practicing so hard — to see it all come together is really special. It’s probably the most emotional win I’ve ever had.”
The team will compete in Kingston, Ontario, from February 16-24, 2013.
