A golf tournament to benefit a charity or other organization takes a lot of work behind the scenes to come together, and it’s important to have supporters, such as the group of Chicago-area associates who sponsored a hole at the inaugural Northern Illinois University (NIU) Alumni Association golf outing, to help make it successful.
The associates – Mario Cinardi, Angelo Gurrieri, Anthony Gurrieri and Tony DiMiele – sponsored the fourteenth hole at the golf tournament hosted at the Orchard Valley Golf Course in Aurora, Ill. on May 23. These gentlemen mentor NIU students who are also WFG associates, and offer WFG products to NIU’s faculty and staff. Mario also serves as the NIU Alumni Association’s Business Networking Alumni Council president.
As part of the sponsorship the group distributed give-away items that included sunglasses, T-shirts and, of course, golf balls. At the dinner after the tournament, an excellent talk from NIU Alumnus Rick Cerrone – the founder of Baseball magazine and the senior director of the New York Yankees for eleven seasons beginning in 1996 – was enjoyed by those in attendance.
“WFG is a company built on relationships new and old, and that’s what makes us different than every other company out there,” Mario tells WFG Gives Back. “The same is true for our university and community. By staying connected and giving back, it strengthens the relationships we have and develops new ones, while fulfilling our mission through financial education. “
