The World Financial Group (WFG) Escape to Paradise 2011 trip to The Big Island of Hawaii just ended, but attendees are still reminiscing about their time in this tropical island paradise.  Elite trip winners stayed at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai from Feb. 6 – 9 and then joined the main trip winners at the Hilton Waikoloa Village from Feb. 9 – 14.

EMD Bobby Garcia, who has visited Hawaii on multiple WFG Escape to Paradise trips, noted that this trip was “by far my favorite trip I’ve spent with my family.”  A highlight for him this year was parasailing off the coast of The Big Island, which he described as very serene, smooth and tranquil.

EVC Jun Dela Cruz found another way to see The Big Island.  Renting ATVs offered Jun and his family, EVC John Shin and his family as well as CEO MD Micky Nguyen an excellent opportunity to travel through the scenic Waipoa Valley.  During the journey, they encountered indigenous people in the area where King Kamehameia was raised.

Jun wasn’t the only WFG visitor to The Big Island who used an alternate mode of transportation to explore the sights.  SMD Peter Nguyen of Philadelphia and his business partner Kim rented mopeds to cruise up and down the streets of Hawaii. An associate with WFG since 2006, this was Peter’s first trip to the grand islands of Hawaii.  In addition to riding around The Big Island, Peter said he enjoyed the chance to get to know all the people that have found success in WFG.  For those who want to attend the next World Financial Group (WFG) Escape to Paradise trip he suggests that they “work hard and build a big base shop.”

A regular event during the WFG Escape to Paradise trip is the golf tournament.  This year, a tiebreaker was required, but in the end, the foursome of EVC Scott Childress, EVC Tom Mathews, EVC Rich Cunningham and EMD Chris Felton took home the top golf prize.  Rich also won the “closest to the pin” award for the men while SMD Lynn Blenkin won it for the women.  In the longest drive contest, SMD James Schwartz won for the men while WFG associate Laurie Miller won for the women.

Many activities were enjoyed by those World Financial Group (WFG) associates who were lucky enough to visit The Big Island.  The Hilton featured a dolphin lagoon where WFG associates could watch and even swim with these amazing marine mammals.  Others found their thrills by taking a helicopter ride to observe the local volcanoes, or snorkeling or scuba diving to see the amazing sea life surrounding the island.  Several attendees enjoyed whale-watching tours during which they saw the amazing humpback whales play and splash in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. But at the top of everyone’s list was relaxation – which many of the WFG attendees found poolside soaking up the sun.

A WFG Escape to Paradise trip would not be complete without the annual luau to mark the end of the trip.  CEO MD Terry Johal of Surrey, BC was featured in a fire-dance.  WFG Chairman’s Council member Réal Michaud impressed the attendees with a hula dance.  And WFG Agency Chairman Xuan Nguyen celebrated his birthday in style with a cake.
