You may have heard that the World Financial Group-sponsored Ferbey 4, consisting of Randy Ferbey, David Nedohin, Scott Pfeifer and Marcel Rocque, had gone their separate ways. But fear not, curling fans. WFG is proud to announce that Randy has joined forces with a new rink, and WFG is sponsoring this 2.0 version of the Ferbey Team.
Randy is joining forces with 2006 Olympic Gold medal-winner Brad Gushue, who will serve as captain of the Ferbey Team. Hailing from Newfoundland, Brad has also headed rinks that won the 1998 and 2001 World Junior Curling Champions, as well as six Newfoundland/Labrador Junior Curling Men’s Championships. Brad will throw the fourth rock to Randy’s third.
Rounding out World Financial Group’s new curling foursome are 2006 Olympic Gold medal-winner Mark Nichols and Ryan Fry. Also hailing from Newfoundland, Mark has featured on five Newfoundland/Labrador men’s championship rinks, as well as four Newfoundland / Labrador Junior Men’s Champion teams. Mark throws second for our curling powerhouse.
Ryan Fry is originally from Winnipeg, and you could say he has curling in his blood: his father Barry was the winner of the 1979 Men’s Brier, the Canadian Men’s curling championship. Ryan, who throws the lead rock, was named the 2007 Manitoba Men’s champion, as well as winning junior championships in Manitoba in 1996 and 1997.
