As we approach the late spring months, news stories about college graduations pop up frequently. Recently WFG Review received word that World Financial Group (WFG) Board of Directors member Monte Holm will be given an honorary doctorate degree.
Holm will receive the honorary doctorate from Dixie State College of Utah in St. George, Utah on May 6. He will be receiving this honor along with Thomas S. Monson, the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Founded in 1911, Dixie State College of Utah is celebrating its 100 year anniversary. The school was first known as the St. George Stake Academy. The first enrollment at the college consisted of 42 students, but today, nearly 7,000 students attend at Dixie State. This year’s graduating class will be Dixie State’s largest, with close to 1,600 degrees being conferred, including more than 400 bachelor’s degrees and more than 1,100 associate degrees.
Holm, who attended Dixie State College and is an active alumnus, said he is pleased and honored to receive his first honorary doctorate from Dixie State College. “I feel it an honor to receive this recognition from the college I attended. I have remained involved with Dixie State over the years and I’m thrilled to be a part of this historic graduating class,” Holm said.
