World Financial Group’s charitable giving knows no bounds. Each year, the WFG Community Relationship Committee takes suggestions from the WFG Corporate Headquarters’ employees regarding charitable organizations that are in need of funding. Based on this input, the Committee made contributions to five Atlanta, GA-based charities.
WFG saw a kindred spirit in Family Promise of Gwinnett County. Just as World Financial Group believes in helping families create a better future, Family Promise’s mission is to see an end to homelessness one family at a time. The Gwinnett chapter assists up to four families at a time, helping them to transition from homelessness to permanent housing and full time employment.
WFG also chose to give to Noah’s Ark of Locust Grove, GA. Started by the daughter of a traveling preacher who took it upon herself to nurse sick animals back to health, she and her family now oversee over 1,000 animals on their farm and serve as a foster home for up to 24 children. Just about every kind of animal, from alligators to zebras, have called Noah’s Ark home at one time or another.
Another local charitable organization, Skyland Trail is an adult mental health treatment facility founded in 1989 and seeks to help reintegrate those treated back into the community. Both residential and transitional patients are treated for symptoms such as depression and schizophrenia, with treatments ranging from traditional therapy to music and drama.
Young people usually think they have no voice in the world. But some creative teens and adults are doing something about it. The VOX Teen Newspaper is Atlanta’s only newspaper created by and about teenagers. The paper, which includes articles, editorials, and reviews, is distributed at local Atlanta schools and libraries. Additionally this year WFG recently participated in a holiday food and toy drive for underprivileged, abused women, children and the hungry of metro Atlanta. The drive was sponsored by the St. John West Outreach Ministry of Norcross.
