World Financial Group and Carl Edwards have a great history together, and we’re hoping that magic strikes again when Carl drives the World Financial Group No. 60 Ford in the Nationwide Series’ WYPALL 200 race at Phoenix International Raceway on Nov. 12, 2011. This is news that has us doing back flips at WFG!
In 2004, World Financial Group (WFG) entered into its first NASCAR sponsorship with Edwards, Roush Racing’s newest Sprint Cup driver (now Roush Fenway Racing). At the time, Edwards was an up-and-coming driver, but it didn’t take him long to burn up the track while proudly displaying the WFG name on his car and fire suit. His first WFG race was in Atlanta in late 2004. Continuing into 2005, Carl had four wins in the Sprint Cup series, with 13 top five and 18 top ten finishes and one victory while driving the World Financial Group No. 99 Ford.
Carl and World Financial Group (WFG) joined forces again in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, Carl won his first Busch (now Nationwide) Series title, in addition to three Sprint Cup wins. In 2008, Carl had one of his best seasons, winning nine Sprint races and seven Nationwide Series races. As a result, he finished second in points for the season in both series.
In addition to the sponsorship of Carl in Phoenix, World Financial Group will also have a Show Car tour* this summer with the No. 60 Ford Mustang. Check back with WFGsports.com for the schedule of upcoming Show Car events and news about other World Financial Group sporting sponsorships.
